Concussion Rehabilitation

Despite our best efforts to keep them safe, children frequently sustain concussions as a result of falls, sports injuries, or car accidents.  While most concussions resolve within a couple of weeks, some children can experience a range of symptoms for longer.  Every child has a different response to a concussion.

At Action Potential Rehabilitation, a paediatric physiotherapist with special training and experience working with children post-concussion would assess your child and develop a treatment plan.  The treatment sessions can be offered in your home, by TeleRehab, or in our clinic where your child would be seen in a quiet, calm room separate from the main treatment area. Treatment may include education on pacing activities, a return to physical activity with symptom monitoring, improving strength and endurance after the initial rest phase, visual/vestibular rehabilitation to decrease dizziness and improve balance, and appropriate hands-on therapy or exercises for relieving headaches, a common problem post-concussion.
