Frequently asked questions

Below is a comprehensive list of common questions about our practice, team, and physiotherapy in general. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.

Q.

How do I book my first appointment?

A.

You can call or email to speak with our helpful staff regarding booking your first appointment.  Once assigned to your physiotherapist, she/he will book future appointments directly with you.

At Action Potential Rehabilitation, we believe that finding the right therapist for you is extremely important to your success. Upon initial contact, our staff will ask you some screening questions so that every potential client seeking services can be carefully matched with a therapist we believe has the skills, knowledge and availability to best meet your individual needs.

Q.

What should I expect on my first visit?

A.

On your first visit, the therapist will ask you questions about your medical history (including current medications), the physical challenges you are experiencing, and your rehabilitation goals. They will then do a physical assessment that may include strength testing, balance testing, a gait (walking) analysis and any other tests they feel would be helpful to their treatment plan and for tracking your progress. Towards the end of this initial visit your therapist will discuss their findings and treatment recommendations with you.  Note that in order to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols, our staff will greet you at the door to ask you health questions, and you will be asked to wear a mask upon entering and during your entire session.

Q.

What are the advantages of in-home physiotherapy?

A.

Having the therapist come to your home allows them to see what the “real life” challenges are that you face every day. You will not have to be concerned about transportation issues such as busing, traffic, parking, or having to walk an uncertain distance into the clinic. This means that you can conserve your energy in order to derive the maximum benefit from each session.

Q.

If I am treated in my home will any necessary equipment be available?

A.

Yes, if equipment is required, the therapist will provide it for use during your at-home session.

Q.

Is there an extra charge for having the therapist come to my home?

A.

The session rate includes travel time within our catchment area. If you reside outside that zone,we will inform you of any additional charges when booking your appointment.

Q.

What should I wear for my treatment sessions?

A.

We recommend that you wear clothing that is light, comfortable, and that can easily be rolled up. Shorts and a tank top are ideal.

Q.

Can I bring a relative or a trusted friend to my appointment?

A.

You are welcome to bring someone who can offer you support during your treatment session. In order to follow our COVID-19 protocols, it is best to let your physiotherapist know in advance that you wish to be accompanied, so that we can ensure adequate distancing in our clinic.

Q.

What is Action Potential Rehab’s cancellation policy?

A.

We request a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment.  Failure to do so may result in a charge for your missed appointment. This would be discussed with your phsiotherapist.

Q.

How do I pay for my treatment session?

A.

Either a paper or e-mailed invoice (your choice) will be sent to you at the beginning of each month, covering the sessions of the previous month. Payment can be sent via cheque, e-transfer, VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or by calling our office. If your injury is covered under a motor vehicle insurance policy, the insurance company will be billed directly on your behalf and any outstanding balance will be invoiced to you after your primary insurance has been exhausted. Our office manager is  available to help you with any invoice or account enquiries.

Q.

How long is a treatment session?

A.

Each treatment session is approximately 1 hour long.  That includes time for the therapist to write a brief note on your chart.
