Hands-on Paediatric Physiotherapy

Treating children requires a gentle, unique approach which is very different than treating adults.  Armed with extensive paediatric training and experience, our physiotherapists are very knowledgeable in childhood movement disorders, and the best approaches to meeting your child’s specific needs.

Therapy will begin with an initial assessment to evaluate your child’s delay or movement disorder, and then your physiotherapist will discuss a plan of care which will include a home program of exercises and activities to promote your child’s development.  As your child grows and acquires new skills, the treatment will be modified to suit his or her changing developmental needs.

Our paediatric physiotherapists are skilled in treating babies as young as newborn, in addition to children of all ages.  Therapy is play-based to encourage active participation from your child as well as learning to translate movement into functional activities that they need to use every day.  Therapy sessions are always one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist.  Activities are designed to meet your child’s individual needs by promoting gross motor development, improving balance, building strength, increasing flexibility, and gently guiding your child to improve his or her mobility.
