NDT, also known as the Bobath Concept, is a holistic therapy used with infants and children with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, genetic disorders, or delayed development.  

The NDT approach is based on the sequential development of movement – in other words, the typical progression of postural control preceding more selective movement as children gain control of movement higher up against gravity.  Although your physiotherapist will facilitate movement with your child, the emphasis is always on your child actively moving to improve strength and endurance.  The NDT approach fosters neuroplastic changes in the brain and functional movement patterns to accomplish day to day activities.

Your physiotherapist will look at all aspects of your child’s development including postural control, alignment, function, communication and social and mental well-being in order to develop a treatment plan that best meets their needs. Treatments are individualized based on the age and ability of your infant and child.
