Neurovisual Rehabilitation

Neurovisual Rehabilitation (NR) is a technique used to treat visual deficits caused by acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, and a variety of other neurological conditions, particularly those caused by a midline shift of the brain.  At APR, our therapists perform visual assessments and teach exercises to guide our clients on their recovery journeys.  NR treatment is highly multidisciplinary, leading to many health professionals working together to create an overall treatment plan.

Neurovisual rehabilitation can be effect in the mitigation or treatment of any of the following symptoms:

  • Diplopia (double vision)
  • Asthenopia (blurred vision)
  • Eye strain
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness (vertigo)
  • Spatial awareness and disorientation
  • Hand-eye motor coordination deficits
  • Difficulties in tracking moving objects within space

Either your specialist optometrist or our team member will help to determine if neurovisual rehabilitation is right for you. We have a number of therapists trained in NR; please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
